Becoming a contact point - creating a new Go club
There is no Go club nearby where you live ? You would like to create a Go club ?
This is not so difficult, and according to your time and motivation the Federation can support your project.
Of course to benefit from these services you need to be member of the Belgian Go Federation yourself.
Becoming a contact point
This is the easiest way to help the creation of a new place where Go players can meet and play.
If you would be happy to see more Go clubs but don't feel you have the time or energy to manage a real club, you can become a public contact point. For this we would provide you an email address "club_xxxxxxx@gofed.be" which will be linked to your personal address.
All we ask you to do is to be active, answer mails you will receive from the Federation (a few more than a couple of mails per year) and mails you will receive from everyone interested to play Go in your area.
Becoming a contact point is not about handling a Go club so you don't have much to invest, but it's to help you as players to gather in the hope of creating in the future a real regular Go club.
How to become a contact point
Send an email to board@gofed.be with complete contact information and your email address to ask for the creation of a "contact email".
We will create for you an email address such as "club_butgenbach@gofed.be" which will be linked to your address as contact point of the club to allow everyone to contact you. This mail will be published on the Belgian Go Federation site and visible for everyone.
Ready to start your club ?
Send an email to board@gofed.be with complete contact information of the new club president, name of the club, address and the meeting hours.
Also you send an email to "materiel@gofed.be" mentioning what you would need and where and how we could meet you for providing Go related material.
- The info about your club will be published on the gofed site.
- You will then receive an email contact address such as "club_outsiplou@gofed.be" which will be linked to the address of the president of the club to allow everyone to contact your club.
Once your club is launched, we recommend you strongly to read the guides relative to Go animation on the menu relative to Go and the pages relative to volunteering in the Go Federation menu.
Material
The Federation can provide you with a "starter kit". This material (goban) is second hand but sold at very low price:
This "starter kit" consists in:
- 1 or 2 sets of glass stones for 10 € each
- 1 or 2 gobans 19x19 for 5 € each
- 1 goban 13x13/9x9 free
- 2 goban 9X9/7x7 and/or 9X9/6x6 free if between 2 and 5 BGF members (4 goban if more than 5 BGF members)
Therefore, the starter kit costs (max) 30 €.
Note:
- Actually, this cost should be covered by your "club membership fee" (f.i. 5 €) within a couple of years.
- To officially start a club and ask for the starter kit, at least 2 people need to pay BGF member fees (as member of this new club).
- You are not obliged to purchase everything in the list above, but if you want some material you have to buy for minimum 10 €.
- In the case your club ceases its activities, the Federation guarantees you to buy the material back at the price you have bought it (deducing damage, if any).
PS: in case you wish better quality or more material: we sell it at (cost) price, the very reduced prices only apply for the starter kit. More info here: https://www.gofed.be/en/federation/sale
We also give some promotional / pedagogic material (visit cards...) for free.
